Paper by Nature Art Opening ~ Louis Kroner
3018 Harrison Ave, Cincinnati, OH, United States, Ohio 45211 Map
Artist statement, "I’ve made hundreds of sheets of papers using leaves and stems from dozens of local plants. I enjoy the process of transforming plant material into paper, but that process includes many steps. My first step is to harvest the plants. After that, I chop them, cook them in a caustic solution, rinse them, and use a machine to turn fibers into pulp. Then, I form the pulp into sheets that must be pressed and dried. Finally, I add color and texture.
Besides using it as a main element, I use my papers in creating assemblages by combining it with repurposed wood and found objects such as industrial molds, gears, pieces of hardware, and other odds and ends.
Lou has learned various aspects of papermaking, assemblage, and bookmaking from many papermakers and artists and in classes and workshops at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts (Gatlinburg), the Center for Book and Paper Arts at the Columbia College (Chicago),the Morgan Conservatory (Cleveland), the Art Academy ofCincinnati, Miami University, Mount St. Joseph University, the Cincinnati Book ArtsSociety (CBAS)."… See MoreSee Less
